Softcover, perfect-bound, the laminated front and back cover with photographs, entitled "Insignele Aviaţiei Militare Române / Romanian Airforce Badges", by Lieutenant Colonel (Retired) Iliese Marcel, with all rights reserved by the author, published by Editura Mirton (Mirton Publishing) in 2007, printed by Imprimeria Mirton (Mirton Printing House) of Timișoara as part of the Colecția Techne (Technical Collection), ISBN (13) 978-973-52-0087-9. The book is a thorough examination of all Romanian Air Force badges, both in metal and embroidered, issued from their inception in the 1920s through to the modern day when the book was published in 2007. The text is in both Romanian and English throughout and is complemented by multiple photographs. The defined periods covered include: First Types of Badges from Ferdinand Regency Period, Regency Period 1927-1930, Carol II Period 1930-1940, Michael I 1940-1947, From 1949 to 1952, People's Republic Period 1952-1965, Socialist Republic Period 1965-1989, From 1992 to 1996, After 1996. It begins with a Preface, followed by a Preamble by the author. The book is divided into two basic sections: 1. Romanian Military Pilot Signs (A Pilot's Royal Eagle; Insignia for the Air Observers; Symbols of Military Pilots between 1949-1990; Royal Eagle for Military Pilots after 1990; Some "Trials" for New Badges; Military Parachutists; Other Categories); 2. Catalogue (Pilot, Air Observers, Romanian Cosmonaut, Air Force Technicians, Air Force Engineers, Air Force 1st Engineers, Navigators, Air Traffic Controller Specialist, Air Force Signal Specialist, Air Force Signal Ground Service, Air Force Meteorologist, Paratroops Badges, Other Air Force Badges, Commemorative Badges of Aviation School Graduates, Miniatures). It concludes with a Bibliography, a List of Photographic Sources and a Table of Contents. The book contains 92 pages, containing descriptive text, with colour photographs of the badges throughout, along with black and white and colour period photographs of selected recipients, printed in four-colour inks, on a coated paper stock, the cover printed in four-colour inks, on a coated white card stock, measuring 205 mm (w) x 290 mm (h) x 6 mm (d). It exhibits contact marks, scuffing and sticker residue on the front and back covers, with the lower right corner bent back on the front cover, however, the pages within remain pristine. Very fine.
