Romania, Kingdom. An Order of the Star of Romania, Commander by Resch

Instituted on May 10, 1877. A Commander neck badge in silver with a blue enamel cross with a cluster smooth rays in each quadrant, the obverse medallion features a superimposed eagle on a red enamelled field, surrounded by a blue enamel ring inscribed IN FIDE SALUS, encircled by a green enamelled wreath, the reverse bears the crowned monogram of King Carol I, the cross is surmounted by a large crown, measures 65.4 mm (w) x 96.7 mm (h - inclusive of crown suspension), base of 6 o’clock arm is marked RESCH, accompanied by an original neck ribbon, enamels intact, demonstrating gilt wear to obverse, remains in extremely fine condition.

Contained in the original case, a burgundy exterior marked COMANDOR STEAUA ROMANIEI CIVIL, the interior marked with maker Joseph Resch Fiis Bucuresti, measures 85 mm (w) x 143 mm (l) x 23 mm (d), scuffing to corners and wear to edges, hinge and clasp functional, in very fine.
