(Coroana României). Instituted May 10, 1881. Civil Division. The sash badge constructed of silver gilt, in the shape of a Maltese cross with red and white enamelled arms, cyphers of Carol I in each quadrant, and a central red enamelled medallion depicting the Romanian Royal crown, surrounded by a white ring of enamels inscribed “PRIN NOI INSINE” (Latin - By Ourselves), and dated “14 MARTIE 1881”, the reverse with a central red enamelled medallion inscribed “10. MAUI”, surrounded by a ring of white enamels dated “1866 - 1877 - 1881”, measuring 68.3 mm (w) x 68.6 mm (h), weighing 65.0 grams, marked ARG and JRF denoting manufacture of Joseph Resch Fils,on the ring, accompanied by its period original and full size silk sash, demonstrating enamel replacement to the obverse 3 o’clock arm, reverse 9 and 6 o’clock arm, and enamel damage to reverse medallion very fine condition.
