Prussia, Kingdom. An Order of the Red Eagle, IV Class Cross

(Roter Adler Orden Kreuz IV. Klasse). Instituted 12 June 1792 by King Friedrich Wilhelm II. (1864-1918 issue). Constructed of silver with multi-coloured enamels, consisting of a Cross Pattée with pebbled arms, the obverse bearing a central white enameled medallion overlaid by a hand-painted Prussian imperial eagle, the reverse bearing a central raised monogram of King Friedrich Wilhelm II, the twelve o’clock arm topped by an integral loop and suspension ring retaining a period original length of ribbon which demonstrates consistent age-appropriate fading, unmarked, measuring 38.68 mm (w) x 42.46 mm (h), weighing 16.7 grams, the enameled medallion demonstrating careful enamel and paint restoration, in better than very fine condition.
