(Königlicher Kronen-Orden Kreuz III. Klasse in Gold mit Etui). Instituted 18 October 1861 by King Wilhelm I. (1869-1918 issue). Constructed of 14K Gold with multi-coloured enamels, on loop for suspension from its period original ribbon, consisting of a Cross Pattée with white enameled arms trimmed with gilt borders, bearing a central Gold medallion overlaid by a raised crown, situated within a circular blue enameled ring bearing a gilt inscription of “GOTT MIT UNS” (“GOD WITH US”) with arabesques, the reverse bearing a central Gold medallion overlaid by a raised monogram of King Wilhelm I, situated within a circular blue enameled ring bearing a gilt institution date of “DEN 18 OCTOBER 1861”, maker marked between the three and six o’clock quadrants with the logo of J. Godet & Söhne, Berlin, measuring 42.59 mm (w) x 46.09 mm (h), weighing 12.4 grams, accompanied by its original presentation case, constructed of a light wooden frame with a faux black leather exterior liner, the lid bearing a gilt monogram of King Wilhelm I, the interior with a padded white satin lid liner, with a retractable and fitted maroon velvet medal bed, closing with a sliding metal hook, unmarked, measuring 64 mm (w) x 82 mm (l) x 30 mm (h), demonstrating minor flecking to the enamels and fatigue to the exterior of the case, a high-quality example produced by one of Prussia’s most notable court jewellers in extremely fine condition.
