Prussia, Kingdom. An 1813 Iron Cross II Class, Centenary Exhibition Example, c. 1913

(Eisernes Kreuz 1813 II. Klasse - Museumsstück). Constructed of iron and silver, on loop for suspension from its period original ribbon, consisting of a Cross Pattée with a blackened magnetic iron core within a ribbed silver frame, the obverse plain, the reverse with three central oak leaves, the six o’clock arm with an institution date of “1813”, the twelve o’clock arm with initials “FW” topped by a royal crown, unmarked, measuring 40.54 mm (w) x 45.62 mm (h), weighing 15.6 grams, a high-quality exhibition example produced for the centenary of the institution of Germany’s most notable decoration for bravery, in extremely fine condition.
