(Order Odrodzenia Polski). Instituted in 1921. Type I (1918-1939). In bronze gilt with red, white and blue enamels, type I with "1918" reverse, measuring 57.5 mm (w) x 57.5 mm (h), intact enamels, a few of the ball finials bent back, scattered gilt wear, accompanied by a replacement full-length neck ribbon, near extremely fine. In its hardshelled case of issue, red cloth exterior, marked with the order's insignia on the lid, inside lid in white satin and padded, base with a raised platform with a recessed medal bed in off-white felt, the white felt exhibiting soiling, measuring 94.5 mm (w) x 116.5 mm (h) x 32 mm (d), exhibiting soiling, scuffing and discolouration on the exterior, case near fine.

It is conferred on both military and civilians, as well as on foreigners, for outstanding achievements in the fields of education, science, sport, culture, art, economics, national defense, social work, civil service, or for furthering good relations between countries. The Order of Polonia Restituta is sometimes regarded as Poland's successor to the Order of the Knights of Saint Stanislaus, Bishop and Martyr, known as the Order of Saint Stanislaus, established in 1765 by Stanisław August Poniatowski, the last King of the Polish-Lithuanian Commonwealth, to honour supporters of the Polish crown.
