Instituted 1921 by Pope Benedict VX. In silver gilt with red, white and blue enamels, composed of a Maltese cross with multiple emanating rays between each arm, the obverse oval centrepiece with the monogram of Pope Benedict affixed, reverse oval centrepiece illustrating a man kneeling before Jesus Christ and framed by a wreath of laurel leaves, ornate integral suspension, measuring 66.5 mm (w) x 71.2 mm (h), measuring 94 mm (h) inclusive of its ornate elongated suspension loop which bears laurel leaves, tiny chip evident in the red enamels on the tip of the upper point on the arm at 9 o'clock, otherwise the enamels are intact, both ball finials on the same arm are bent back slightly, replacement modern neck ribbon, near extremely fine.
