For three decades, eMedals Inc has made an effort to preserve history in all its forms. As historians and researchers, we have managed sensitive articles and materials with the greatest of care and respect for their past and present social context. We acknowledge the growing sentiments put forth by the Canadian public and have taken proactive actions to address this opinion.

Description
Description
This bayonet features a 522 mm long steel blade, magnetic, incorporating a bright finish along with a very sharp blade and a very sharp tip, the fuller running three-quarters of the length of the bayonet on both sides, maker marked "SIMSON & Co SUHL" on the reverse ricasso. The blade is embedded into the heavy steel crossguard that is designed with a short downward-pointing quillon at one end, stamped with an undetermined crowned monogram on the top beside the blade, the other end of the crossguard terminating almost immediately and incorporates a concave design instead of a flat end, the crossguard number stamped "6163" on the reverse. There are wooden plates with a dark finish embedded onto either side of the steel handle that bear an angled multi-ribbed grip, held in place via two large screws penetrated by rivets, the steel pommel with knob and mortise slot to receive the rifle, the pommel marked on the bottom with the Republic of Peru coat-of-arms, the bayonet measuring 654 mm in length overall. The bayonet is housed in its very stiff black-finished boiled leather scabbard, with a well-stitched seam visible on the reverse, the throat secured in place by a single screw, the locket and chape in metal and are stapled in place to the body of the scabbard, the large L-shaped frog stud on the locket is number stamped "24879" (which does not match that used on the crossguard, which is the custom and therefore, is not original to this bayonet), the scabbard measuring 542 mm in length. The blade exhibits light scratches overall, common to extraction and return to the scabbard, along with some minor wear spots, the steel portions of both the bayonet and the scabbard with contact marks, moderate surface wear and rust present, the scabbard with very light wear on the leather body. Fine.
Footnote: This bayonet is identical to the German 98 bayonet, except for the Peruvian crest on the pommel and the serial number on the crossguard and the frog stud.
