(Ordre van Oranje-Nassau). Instituted April 4th, 1892. An fine quality manufacture and extremely well preserved example of this Order, consisting of:
The neck badge, consisting of a Maltese Cross in silver gilt with white and blue enamels and ball finials, with a laurel wreath in the quadrants between the arms of the cross, the obverse center medallion with a crowned Dutch Lion on a background of blue enamels with a Golden “traveling” pattern, surrounded by a white enamelled ring with the motto “Je Maintiendrai” (I Will Maintain) in capitalized lettering, the reverse center medallion with a stylized and crowned “W” for Queen Wilhelmina, surrounded by a white enamelled ring with the words “God Zy Met Ons” (God is with us), surmounted by a large hollow Royal Crown with a horizontally pierced ball and swivel ring suspension from its period-original and full-length neck ribbon, measures 57.0 mm (w) x 90.0 mm (w), light gilt wear, enamels intact, very fine condition.
The breast star, in silver, consisting of a four-armed star consisting of rays with a central medallion bearing a crowned Dutch Lion in Gold on a background of blue enamels with a Golden “traveling” pattern, surrounded by a white enamelled ring with the motto “Je Maintiendrai” (I Will Maintain) in capitalized lettering, the reverse offers a vertical pin assembly, central medallion bears the maker mark s’RIJKSMUNT UTRECHT, measuring 83.8 mm (w) x 83.74 mm (l), weighing 48.3 grams, light wear, functional hinge and clasp, very fine condition.
Contained in a blue presentation case, the lid bears a small crown, a blue velvet medalbed with embedded slot for the star, interior lid marked “Kanselarij der Nederlandse Orden ‘s-Gravenhage”, measures 200 mm (w) x 150 mm (h) x 35 mm (d), functional hinge and clasps, very fine condition. Accompanied by a boutonniere of the order.
