(Ordre van Oranje-Nassau). Instituted in 1892. In silver gilt, the neck badge portraying a blue and white enamelled Maltese cross with ball finials and wreath segments in each quadrant, the obverse medallion displays a rampant lion holding a sword encircled by a white enamel ring inscribed JE MAINTIENDRAI (I Will Maintain), the reverse medallions feature a crowned W cypher surrounded by a white enamel ring inscribed GOD ZIJ MET ONS (God Be With Us), the cross is surmounted by a crown suspension, measures 56.75mm (w) x 88.05mm (h – inclusive of cross adorned crown suspension), weighs 56.6 grams, .925 silver mark on suspension to crown, all enamels intact, minor oxidation, remains in extremely fine condition. The Star of the Order, in silver, a four point star with smooth rays, the obverse medallion displays a rampant lion holding a sword encircled by a white enamel ring inscribed JE MAINTIENDRAI (I Will Maintain), the reverse offers a single vertical pin flanked by dual stays, the pin is marked with a .925 silver mark, makers mark on the cartouche denotes ‘sRIJKSMUNT UTRECHT, measures 84.35mm (w) x 84.35mm (h), weighs 62.1 grams, enamels intact, remains in extremely fine condition.
Accompanied by an original full length neck ribbon, and boutonniere pin with rosette.
Contained in original case of issue, blue leatherette exterior with crown on lid, the interior lid is dark blue silk marked Kanselarij der Nederlandse Orden’s – Gravenhage, with band to contain the neck ribbon, the base features a blue velvet medal bed with recessed sections for each decoration, measures 200mm (w) x 152mm (h) x 33mm (d), hinge and clasp functional, very minor wear to exterior corners, remains in extremely fine condition.
