Instituted on June 22, 1949 by King Abdullah I. A rare collar in silver gilt, featuring seventeen red enamelled stylized roses with a superimposed seven point star in the center of each rose, seven diamonds at the edge of each rose, an approximate total of 12.00 carats of natural, genuine round brilliant cut diamonds, of average quality, with a seven point star between each rose connected by small interlocked chains, the three lower central roses featuring have a superimposed inscription reading “Qiladat al-Hussein bin-Ali” (“The Collar of Hussein bin-Ali”), reverse of each rose and star is plain, each rose measures 33.7 mm (w) x 34.0 mm (h), the collar measures 112 cm in circumference, unmarked, small areas of enamel wear on several roses, a very rare collar of the highest order of Jordan, in extremely fine condition.
Footnote: The Order of al-Hussein bin Ali was originally established by King Abdullah I of Jordan on June 22, 1949. The Order was created in honour of the King's father, and it was instituted 1 month before the assassination of the King. The Order was later reformed by King Hussein on September 23, 1967; who extended the award to Jordanian nationals and added a second class and ribbon. The Order is the highest knighthood Order of the Kingdom of Jordan.
The I Class Collar is awarded to heads of state.
