Instituted January 4, 1888 by Emperor Meiji. Constructed of silver and silver gilt with white and blue enamels, along with sixteen red glass cabochons, suspended by a paulownia flower connected to a correct period original ribbon, reverse plain with two rivets and kanji in the center, marked 14 on the reverse of the suspension, measuring 43.9 mm (w) x 47.7 mm (h-inclusive of paulownia suspension), in extremely fine condition.
Contained in the original black lacquer case of issue, kanji on the lid, the interior in dark purple silk, measures 61 mm (w) x 109 mm (h) x 21 mm (d), light wear, in extremely fine condition.
