Japan, Empire. An Order of the Sacred Treasure, II Class Star, in Case

(瑞宝章, Zuihōshō). Instituted in 1888. Type I (1888-2003). In silver gilt, an eight point star with clusters of white enamelled rays, separated by a single short blue ray, the obverse medallion featuring a silver flower on a blue enamelled field, encircled by a silver gilt ring along with sixteen red glass cabochons, reverse bears a single pin with dual stays, measures 75.4 mm (w) x 74.4 mm (h), weighs 96.6 grams, notable enamel cracks and chips in the white rays and the red cabochons, reverse has been heavily scratched, pin is bent, in near very fine condition. 

Contained a more modern case, dark blue fabric exterior, silk and velvet interior, measures 105 mm (w) x 105 mm (h) x 40 mm (d), well sealed, very fine.
