(Ordine della Corona d'Italia). Instituted February 20, 1868 by Emmanuel II. A Grand Officer Set, the neck badge in Gold, a white enamelled cross with savoy knots in each quadrant, the obverse featuring a lombardy crown on a blue enamel field, the reverse medallion featuring a black enamelled eagle, measures 50.9 mm (w) x 54.5 mm (h - inclusive of integral ring), weighs 26.68 grams, worn on original neck ribbon, light wear, remains in very fine condition. The Breast Star, in silver, featuring eight arms with large ball finials, the central medallion presenting the white enamel cross with Savoy knots in the quadrants, the lombardy crown on a blue enamelled field encircled by a Gold ring, the reverse of the star presenting a vertical pin assembly, maker cartouche in the center reads E. GARDINO SUCC. CRAVANZOLA, measures 73.4mm (w) x 73.3 mm (h), weighs 56.9 grams, wear to silver, enamels intact, hinge and clasp functional, remains in very fine condition.
Contained in original case of issue, featuring a read leatherette exterior with gilt markings denoting a crowned VE monogram, the interior with a partial black velvet medal bed, creme coloured silk interior denoting CRAVANZOLA E Succ Gardino Gioielleria ROMA, measures 110 mm (w) x 220 mm (l) x 38 mm (d), scratches and tears to the exterior, slight silk pulls on the interior, pin through catch to facilitate functionality, in near very fine condition.
