Italy, Kingdom. An Order of the Crown of Italy, Grand Officer Breast Star, c. 1930

(Ordine della Corona d’Italia). Instituted February 20th, 1868. (c. 1930 issue). A silver eight-pointed star with large ball finials, the obverse with a superimposed Cross Pattée in 18 kt Gold and enamels, consisting of a white enameled cross with Gold knots in the quadrants in-between the arms of the cross, the obverse center features a blue enameled field with a Lombardy crown with red, green and white enamel details, surrounded by a Gold ring, the reverse is plain with a raised barrel hinge, vertical pinback, and broad rightward opening catch, unmarked, measuring 71.6 mm (w) x 72.9 mm (l), weighing 45.83 grams, with pleasant dark patina on the silver surfaces, in overall better than very fine condition.
