(Ordine Militare di Savoia). Instituted in 1815, Revised in 1855, Discontinued in 1947. In bronze gilt with red, white and green enamels, maker marked "P. MEYBAUER BERLIN SW 68 JUNKER STR 19" on the reverse, measuring 56.2 mm (w) x 60 mm (h) inclusive of its integral ring, intact enamels, extremely fine.
Footnote: The Military Order of Savoy was instituted on August 14, 1815, revised on September 28, 1855 and discontinued on January 2, 1947, becoming the Military Order of Italy under the Italian Republic. It was awarded for military merit, in five grades: Knight Grand Cross, Grand Officer, Commander, Officer and Knight.
