(Ordine della Corona d’Italia). Instituted February 20th, 1868. (c. 1880). Constructed of 18kt Gold, with blue, green, red, and white enamels, suspended from a fixed loop and swivel ring suspension from its period original ribbon, consisting of a white-enameled hollow construction Gold cross with Gold knots in the quadrants between the arms of the cross, the obverse with a blue enameled centerpiece bearing a royal crown constructed of white, green, and red enamels, surrounded by a Gold ring, the reverse features a Gold central medallion bearing a black enameled eagle with a red and white enameled shield on its chest, surrounded by a matching Gold ring, unmarked, measuring 35.9 mm (w) x 39.6 mm (l), weighing 9.33 grams. Accompanied by its presentation case, constructed of a lightweight wooden core and a lightly textured burgundy faux leather exterior, the exterior of the lid is embossed with “U” topped by a Royal Crown in gilt, the interior of the lid is lined with a purple cotton-silk blended fabric, marked with the information of “Cravanzola of Rome” in gilt, with a functional exterior metal hinge, intact interior fabric hinge cover, and functional exterior push-button closure, with a recessed purple felted medal bed for secure seating of the award, measuring 67 mm (w) x 93 mm (l), in overall extremely fine condition.
