(Ordensschnalle). A composite medal bar for First World War Service featuring five decorations, including:
1. An Austrian Bravery Medal, Type VIII, constructed of bronze, on loop for suspension with its period original ribbon, the obverse bearing a raised and rightward-facing bust of Emperor Franz Joseph, circumscribed by name and title, the reverse bearing a central wreathed inscription of “DER TAPFERKEIT” (“TO BRAVERY”), the obverse designer marked “TAUTENHAYN”, measuring 31.34 mm in diameter, in near extremely fine condition.
2. A Prussian Cross for Voluntary War Aid, constructed of zink, on loop for suspension with its period original ribbon, consisting of a Maltese Cross with pebbled arms, the obverse bearing a central raised monogram of Kaiser Wilhelm II, the reverse bearing a central raised inscription of “FÜR KRIEGS-HILFSDIENST” (“FOR VOLUNTARY WAR AID”), unmarked, measuring 40.82 mm (w) x 40.60 mm (h), in near extremely fine condition.
3. An Honour Cross of the World War 1914/1918 for Combatants, constructed of bronzed magnetic metal, on loop for suspension with its period original ribbon, consisting of a Cross Pattée with crossed swords piercing the centrepiece, the obverse bearing central wreathed dates “1914/1918”, the reverse maker marked with the logo of Funcke & Brüninghaus, Lüdenscheid, measuring 37.42 mm (w) x 41.87 mm (h), in extremely fine condition.
4. A Hungarian War Commemorative Medal, constructed of silvered bronze, on loop for suspension with a replacement ribbon, unmarked, measuring 36.90 mm in diameter, in near extremely fine condition.
5. A French Croix de Guerre, constructed of bronze, on loop for suspension with its period original ribbon, consisting of a Cross Pattée with pebbled arms and with crossed swords piercing the centrepiece, the obverse bearing a raised and rightward-facing profile of Marianne, circumscribed by an inscription of RÉPUBLIQUE FRANÇAISE, the reverse bearing central raised dates “1914-1918”, unmarked, measuring 37.78 mm (w) x 45.94 mm (h), in extremely fine condition.
All suspended from 155 mm-long magnetic meal bar with a horizontal pinback and red wool reverse liner, unmarked, an interesting assemblage of awards in extremely fine condition, accompanied by a matching ribbon bar, set on a 70 mm-long magnetic metal core with a horizontal pinback and red wool reverse liner, with some soiling evident in addition to the loss of the sword clasp to the Honour Cross of the World War 1914/1918, in near extremely fine condition.
