International. A Lot of Syrian, Omani, & Saudi Arabian Medals

A group of 10 medals, including: Saudi Arabia, A Combat Medal; Syria, An Order of Civil Merit (marked “ARTHUS BERTRAND”); Syria, An Order of Bravery, III Class; Syria, An Order of Palestinian Campaign; Syria, A Wound Order Medal; Syria, An Order of Devotion; Syria, An Army Medal 1962; Syria, An Order of Military Order; Oman, A Peacekeeping Medal; Oman, A Distinguished Service Medal. The medals in this lot range from very fine to extremely fine condition. 

Footnote: The Combat Medal is presented to members of the Saudi Arabian Armed Forces in recognition of combat service; it was widely awarded to allied forces, including armed forces of the United States of America, in recognition of service in the Second Gulf War II. 

The Order of Civil Merit was instituted on 25 June 1953 and awarded for service to the state or to the Arab cause.

The Order of Bravery was instituted on 20 July 1964 and awarded for courage in action or more general services.

The Order of the Palestine Campaign was instituted on December 18, 195, as an award for valor for members of the Syrian Army and civilians who served in the Palestine War in 1948.

The Wound Order Medal was instituted on 4 July 1953 and was awarded to military or civilian personnel injured while acting in service of the state. 

The Order of Devotion was instituted on July 4, 1953 and awarded to members of the Armed Forces and the civil service, for acts of courage, for service on behalf of the nation, or for at least five years of faithful service. 

The Army Medal 1962 was instituted on 13 September 1962 and awarded to all members of the Syrian Armed Forces who served on August 1, 1962, in commemoration of the 20th anniversary of the Syrian Army. The award of the Medal was later extended in 1965 to reward military personnel who served prior to 1962 as well as to personnel who provided active service after the Ba'ath seizure of power on March 8, 1963.

The Order of Military Honour was instituted on 4 July 1953 and awarded for bravery and leadership on the battlefield. 

The Peacekeeping Medal was issued by the Sultanate of Oman to members of the Armed Forces, Police and MoD for 1 year of service after 1st July 1976.

The Distinguished Service Medal was instituted by Sultan Said bin Taimur in 1967 and was awarded for distinguished service or devotion to duty over a long period, and for conspicuous acts of gallantry at risk of life, but not in the face of the enemy.
