Islenzka falkaoroa. Instituted in 1921. Type II without Crown (1944- ). The Grand Cross, in silver gilt with white enamel arms, the obverse medallion features a falcon on a blue enamel field, the reverse medallion features a blue ring inscribed SEYTJIANDI JUNI 1944, surmounted by a decorative arabesque, measures 44.95mm (w) x 78.15mm (h – inclusive of suspension and integral ring), weighs 40.3 grams, unmarked, enamels intact, light gilt wear, worn on a full length sash with badge attachment, remains in extremely fine condition. The Star of the order, in silver, with alternating arms of faceted and smooth rays, a white enamelled cross with central eagle with blue enamel field, the reverse with a dual prong vertical, measures 83.20mm (w) x 82.95mm (h), weighs 95.5 grams, enamels intact, lovely patina, remains in extremely fine condition.

Contained in an original case of issue, blue leatherette exterior, the interior lid with a crème coloured silk marked KJARTAN ASMUNDSSON REYKJAVIK, with a partial blue recessed velvet medal bed, with sash compartment below, measures 128mm (w) x 220mm (l) x 60mm (h), light scuffing to exterior, remains in extremely fine condition.
