Description

In silver gilt with white and blue enamels, 28.66mm (w) x 53.78 mm (h) to ball suspension , 16.5 grams, extremely fine. Within original case of issue, maker marked on interior or lid, both better than extremely fine. Box measuring at 65.67mm (w) x 100.47mm (h), very fine.

The Order was founded to recognize foreign or Icelandic individuals who have contributed outstanding services to Iceland within civil or military spheres. The Order's statutes were revised on July 11, 1944 with Iceland's transition into a Republic and the President of Iceland became the Grand Master of the Order.
