Hungary, Kingdom; Germany, Weimar Republic. A Mixed Lot of Great War Commemorative Plaques and Medals
A mixed lot of items, including:
1. A 1934 Hungarian Frontline Fighters Association Motor Corps Rally plaque, constructed of bronze with multi-coloured enamels, perforated with two eyelets for rivet attachment, the obverse maker marked “BERÁN” for the firm of Berán Nándor, measuring 68 mm (w) x 45 mm (h), accompanied by its original presentation case, constructed of a pressed card stock frame with a faux black leather exterior liner, the interior with a padded white satin lid liner and intact hinge cover, the former bearing an additional Berán maker’s mark, with a fitted blue velvet medal bed, measuring 94 mm (w) x 64 mm (l) x 22 mm (h), in extremely fine condition.
2. A 1942 Hungarian Frontline Fighters Association commemorative medal, constructed of bronze, the obverse bearing a raised and leftward-facing profile of József Takách-Tolvay, circumscribed by a dedication to the subject in his capacity as leader of the organization, the reverse bearing a central raised organizational emblem circumscribed by name, the obverse engraver marked “TÖRZSÖK K. 1942” for Törzsök Károly (1906-1964), measuring 60 mm in diameter, accompanied by its original presentation case, constructed of a heavy pressed card stock frame with a faux dark blue leather exterior liner, the interior with a padded dark blue satin lid liner and intact hinge cover, with a fitted dark blue velvet medal bed retaining a rayon strap for medal extraction, closing with a functional metal spring catch with exterior stud release, unmarked, measuring 90 mm (w) x 90 mm (l) x 26 mm (h), in extremely fine condition.
3. A 1929 3rd Reich Warriors’ Day in Munich flag pole shield, constructed of silvered bronze, perforated with four eyelets at cardinal points for rivet attachment, unmarked, measuring 38 mm (w) x 82 mm (h), demonstrating loss of silver finish throughout the base metal resulting in a pleasing patina and clear evidence of rally use, in near extremely fine condition.
