Copied from the helmet of the hero of Szigetvár, Miklós Zrínyi, the aim of this helmet was for the wearer to appear ceremonial, taller, and more striking, hence the design which features leather that divided into cloves by 10 silvered (or for officers 10 brass) ribs, with 4 ventilation holes and 2 rainwater drainage channels, die stamped Hungarian coat of arms mounted on front, ventilated tip, with leather chin strap connected at front by buckle, interior with leather liner, 27 cm in height, exhibiting wear and aging to leather, remains near very fine.
Footnote: This style of helmet was introduced in 1908 and subsequently slightly modified in 1936. See H. Klima, Helmets of military formations and civilian guards in Austria-Hungary around 1900, p. 62/63 with illustrations Condition: II
