Description
Description
This is an extremely rare and well-preserved Royal Hungarian Air Force prototype dagger, measuring 390 mm in length when inserted into the scabbard. The dagger features a 225 mm-long nickel-plated magnetic metal blade, the obverse of which bears hand-etched arabesques and designs, completing with a Hungarian royal crown and Air Force Eagle within sun rays. The blade is firmly set into a brass upper crossguard, with two pointed arrows emanating from each side. The crossguard transitions into a handle constructed of ribbed lacquered dark wood, in turn bearing a pommel in the form of a further pointed cross.
It is accompanied by its original scabbard, constructed of brass and measuring 260 mm in length. The scabbard features stylized stamped designs and dual integrated loops for the accommodation of a dagger hanger. The tip bears a further pointed cross, forming the symbol of the Arrow Cross Party when the dagger is inserted. It also retains a functional spring catc at the throat, securely holding the dagger in place during storage. The dagger is unmarked and, with the exception minor tarnishing and running marks to the blade, is in near extremely fine condition.
