Greece, Kingdom. An Order of the Phoenix, First Class Commander Set, c.1960

(Τάγμα του Φοίνικος). Instituted May 13th, 1926. (Type II: 1937-1973). Grand Officer Breast Star consisting of an eight-pointed silver plated bronze star consisting of seven rays per arm with a detailed Phoenix in gilt superimposed centrally on the star, the reverse is plain, with three visible rivets holding the Phoenix to the badge, with two pins and clasps, unmarked, measuring 74.43 mm (w) x 74.42 mm (l), fine; accompanied by the badge of the order consisting of a four-armed cross constructed of bronze gilt with white enameled arms, the 12 o'clock arm of the cross inscribed “I” in gilt, and bearing a large Phoenix in gilt superimposed centrally on the cross, on a fixed loop and large swivel ring for suspension from its full length period-original neck ribbon, unmarked, measuring 57.50 mm (w) x 60.6 mm (h), with enamel loss, fair. Case of issue wooden base, with a burgundy faux leather (leatherette) exterior, the exterior of the lid bearing an image of a Phoenix in gilt, the inside of the lid lined with padded off-white satin, maker marked, with functional dual exterior metal hinges, intact interior fabric hinge cover, and functional exterior metal catch, with a recessed medal bed to accommodate the cross and star, fine.
