(Ehrenzeichen des Deutschen Roten Kreuzes, Kreuz I. Klasse mit Etui). Instituted 28 April 1922. (1922-1934 issue). Constructed of gilded bronze with multi-coloured enamels, consisting of a Cross Pattée with white enameled arms, the obverse bearing a central enameled medallion featuring a white disc centrepiece, overlaid by a red Geneva Cross, situated within a black enameled ring bearing a gilt inscription of “DEUTSCHES ROTES KREUZ” (“GERMAN RED CROSS”), the reverse plain, the twelve o’clock arm topped by an integral loop with dual suspension rings retaining a period original full-length of confectioned neck ribbon, unmarked but demonstrating the characteristics of manufacture by the noted firm of Godet, Berlin, measuring 52.33 mm (w) x 56.86 mm (h), weighing 26.8 grams, accompanied by its original presentation case, constructed of a wooden frame with a faux maroon leather exterior liner, the interior with a white satin lid liner and intact hinge cover, the former maker marked “GODET, BERLIN”, with a slotted maroon felt medal bed, closing with a functional metal spring catch with exterior stud release, measuring 80 mm (w) x 130 mm (l) x 22 mm (h), a superb example in overall extremely fine condition.
