Description

(Fahnenspitze). Constructed of gilded bronze, consisting of a teardrop-shaped frame surrounding a central double-sided coat of arms of the city of Hamburg, riveted within the centre of a custom-fitted semi-oval laurel and oak leaf wreath, joined together at the bottom by ribbon, affixed to a hollow stem with a single eyelet for the accommodation of a rivet to fix the finial to a pole, unmarked, measuring 10.5 cm (w) x 28.5 cm (h), executed in a style commonly seen from the period spanning the German Empire through to the Third Reich, but with the absence of imperial or NSDAP insignia in favour of a city symbol suggesting interwar (ie. Weimar Republic) production, in extremely fine condition.
