An Eastern Front Medal, constructed of silvered and patinated zink, on loop for suspension from its period original ribbon, the obverse bearing a raised Heer-style German national eagle clutching a swastika, the reverse bearing a raised inscription of “WINTERSCHLACHT IM OSTEN 1941/42” (“WINTER BATTLE IN THE EAST 1941/42”), above a crossed sword and laurel branch, topped by a Stahlhelm and stick grenade, the suspension loop maker marked with Präsidialkanzlei code “3” for Wilhelm Deumer, Lüdenscheid, measuring 35.95 mm (w) x 44.09 mm (h), weighing 20.6 grams, accompanied by its original package of issue, constructed of light brown paper stock, the exterior bearing an inscription of “MEDAILLE ‘WINTERSCHLACHT IM OSTEN 1941/42’ (OSTMEDAILLE)” and a maker’s mark of “WILHELM DEUMER, LÜDENSCHEID”, measuring 60 mm (w) x 105 mm (h), demonstrating near-total loss of finish to the medal, in very fine condition.
2. A West Wall Medal, constructed of bronzed zink, on loop for suspension from its period original ribbon, consisting of an oval oak leaf wreath, joined together at the top and bottom by ribbon, the obverse bearing a raised pillbox topped by a crossed sword and shovel and a German national eagle clutching a wreathed mobile swastika, the reverse bearing a raised inscription of “FÜR ARBEIT ZUM SCHUTZ DEUTSCHLANDS” (“FOR WORK IN THE DEFENCE OF GERMANY”), unmarked, measuring 33.35 mm (w) x 45.51 mm (h), weighing 13.1 grams, accompanied by its original package of issue, constructed of grey paper stock, the exterior bearing an inscription of “DEUTSCHES SCHUTZWALL-EHRENZEICHEN” and a maker’s mark “CARL POELLATH, SCHOBRENHAUSEN”, measuring 60 mm (w) x 105 mm (h), demonstrating near-total loss of finish to the medal, in very fine condition.
3. A Spanish Medal of the Russian Campaign, constructed of silvered bronze with enamels, on loop for suspension from its period original ribbon with classic Spanish-style clasp and horizontal pinback, the obverse consisting of a Spanish national eagle, overlaid by a central 1939 Iron Cross, overlaying a circular laurel leaf wreath topped by a crown, the reverse consisting of a circular chain link wreath, surrounding a depiction of the Novgorod Kremlin above an inscription of “RUSIA 1941”, unmarked but demonstrating the characteristics of manufacturer by Diez y Compañia, Madrid, measuring 36.92 mm (w) x 51.44 mm (h), weighing 19.1 grams (inclusive of ribbon), accompanied by its original case of issue, constructed of card stock, the exterior bearing a maker’s mark of “DIEZ Y COMPAÑIA, S.A.-MADRID”, measuring 50 mm (w) x 95 mm (l) x 15 mm (h) and retaining an original wax paper liner, a superb example in near mint condition.
