Germany, Wehrmacht. A Spanish Volunteer Medal, by Deschler & Sohn

(Erinnerungsmedaille für die spanischen Freiwilligen im Kampf gegen den Bolschewismus). Constructed of bronzed zink, on loop for suspension from a postwar replacement ribbon, the obverse bearing a central raised sword overlaid by shields bearing raised Heer and Falange insignia, topped by a Stahlhelm, and situated above a swastika flanked by clutches of laurel leaves, the reverse bearing an inscription of “DIVISIÓN ESPAÑOLA DE VOLUNTARIOS EN RUSIA” (“DIVISION OF SPANISH VOLUNTEERS IN RUSSIA”), above an Iron Cross topped by laurel branches, the suspension loop maker marked with Präsidialkanzlei code “1” for Deschler & Sohn, Munich, measuring 32.44 mm in diameter, weighing 12.3 grams, accompanied by its original wax paper wrapper, demonstrating total loss of bronze finish, in overall very fine condition.
