Germany, Wehrmacht. A Rare Spanish Cross in Gold, with Case

(Spanienkreuz in Gold mit Etui). Constructed of gilded tombak, consisting of a vaulted Maltese Cross with crossed swords piercing the centrepiece, the obverse with pebbled arms joined through the quadrants by Luftwaffe eagles clutching mobile swastika, bearing a central raised mobile swastika situated within dual circular rings, the reverse with a barrel hinge and banjo-style pinback meeting a rounded catch, unmarked, measuring 56.44 mm (w) x 55.43 mm (h), weighing 26.9 grams, accompanied by its original presentation case, constructed of a wooden frame with a faux maroon leather exterior liner, the interior with a white satin lid liner and intact hinge cover, with a slotted maroon velvet medal bed, closing with a functional metal spring catch with exterior stud release, unmarked, measuring 78 mm (w) x 80 mm (l) x 28 mm (h), demonstrating minor loss of finish and material fatigue to the award and exterior of the case, respectively, a rare set in extremely fine condition.
