A superb prisoner of war (POW) trench art cigarette dispenser, of multi-piece lacquered and painted wood construction, consisting of gabled house with all features faithfully executed with painted and hand-carved details, with a depressible chimney the releases the floor of the house to release a cigarette, competed with a removable roof to reload contents, unmarked, measuring 15 cm (l) x 13.5 cm (w) x 16.5 cm (h), an interesting example of trench art notable for its ingenuity and practicality, crafted by a a German serviceman interned in the UK c. 1944, in extremely fine condition.
