(Auszeichnungen). A pair of service decorations, including:

1. An Eastern Front Medal, constructed of silvered and patinated zink, on loop for suspension from its period original ribbon, the obverse bearing a raised Heer-style German national eagle clutching a swastika, the reverse bearing a raised inscription of “WINTERSCHLACHT IM OSTEN 1941/42” (“WINTER BATTLE IN THE EAST 1941/42”), above a crossed sword and laurel branch, topped by a Stahlhelm and stick grenade, unmarked, measuring 35.80 mm (w) x 44.75 mm (h), weighing 19.3 grams, accompanied by its original package of issue, constructed of brown paper stock, the exterior bearing an inscription of “MEDAILLE ‘WINTERSCHLACHT IM OSTEN 1941/42’ (OSTMEDAILLE)” and a maker’s mark of “JULIUS MAURER, OBERSTEIN”, measuring 60 mm (w) x 105 mm (h), loss of finish and moderate oxidation is visible to the decoration, in overall very fine condition.

2. A Black Grade Wound Badge, constructed of blackened magnetic metal, the obverse consisting of an oval laurel leaf wreath, joined together at the bottom by ribbon, around a central raised Stahlhelm overlaid by a mobile swastika, on top of crossed swords on a pebbled field, the reverse with a clip hinge and vertical pinback meeting a flat wire catch, unmarked, measuring 36.73 mm (w) x 44.10 mm (h), weighing 6.6 grams, accompanied by its original package of issue, constructed of light brown paper stock, the exterior bearing an inscription of “VERWUNDETENABZEICHEN SCHWARZ” and a maker’s mark of “HEINRICH WANDER, GABLONZ/NEIßE”, retaining an original wax paper liner, measuring 60 mm (w) x 100 mm (h), minor surface oxidation consistent with storage conditions is visible to the badge, in unissued and overall near mint condition.
