Germany, Wehrmacht. A Mixed Lot of Wound Badges, All Grades

(Verwundetenabzeichen). A mixed lot of Wound Badges, including:

1. A Black Grade badge, constructed of blackened magnetic metal, the obverse consisting of an oval laurel leaf wreath, joined together at the bottom by ribbon, with a central raised Stahlhelm overlaid by a mobile swastika, on top of crossed swords on a pebbled field, the reverse with a clip hinge and vertical pinback meeting a flat wire catch, maker marked with Präsidialkanzlei code “107” for Carl Wild, Hamburg, measuring 36.86 mm (w) x 44.34 mm (h), weighing 10.0 grams, in extremely fine condition.

2. A Silver Grade badge, constructed of silvered zink, the obverse consisting of an oval laurel leaf wreath, joined together at the bottom by ribbon, with a central raised Stahlhelm overlaid by a mobile swastika, on top of crossed swords on a pebbled field, the reverse with an integral hinge and vertical pinback meeting an integral catch, unmarked but demonstrating the characteristics of manufacture by Steinhauer & Lück, Lüdenscheid, measuring 36.62 mm (w) x 44.52 mm (h), weighing 21.6 grams, demonstrating total loss of finish to the base metal and some zink pest to the reverse, in very fine condition.

3. A Gold Grade Badge, constructed of tombak, the obverse consisting of an oval laurel leaf wreath, joined together at the bottom by ribbon, with a central raised Stahlhelm overlaid by a mobile swastika, on top of crossed swords on a pebbled field, the reverse with a clip hinge and vertical pinback meeting a flat wire catch, unmarked but demonstrating the characteristics of manufacture by the Vienna Mint, measuring 36.61 mm (w) x 44.26 mm (h), weighing 35.6 grams, the pinback demonstrates a crude period repair using solder, while the finish has been deliberated erased from the reverse and the edges, a field-repaired example in fair condition.
