(Auszeichnungen). A mixed lot of awards for World War service, including:

1. A War Merit Medal, constructed of bronze, on loop for suspension from its period original ribbon, the obverse bearing a raised Maltese Cross with pebbled arms and a central wreathed mobile swastika, the reverse bearing an inscription of “FÜR KRIEGSVERDIENST 1939” (“FOR WAR MERIT 1939”), unmarked, measuring 32.22 mm in diameter, weighing 12.6 grams, in near mint condition.

2. A War Merit Cross II Class with Swords, constructed of bronze, on loop for suspension from its period original ribbon, consisting of a Maltese Cross with pebbled arms and with crossed swords piercing the centrepiece, the obverse bearing a central wreathed mobile swastika, the reverse bearing a central wreathed date of “1939”, the suspension loop maker marked with Präsidialkanzlei code “110” for Otto Zappe, Gablonz, measuring 47.82 mm (w) x 48.01 mm (h), weighing 18.9 grams, an example by an uncommon manufacturer in near mint condition.

3. A Sudetenland Medal, constructed of bronze, on loop for suspension from its period original ribbon with pinback, the obverse bearing two raised figures, one of which is clutching a flag and the other a length of broken chain, above a German national eagle clutching a wreathed mobile swastika, the reverse bearing a central date of “1. OKTOBER 1938”, circumscribed by an inscription of “EIN VOLK, EIN REICH, EIN FÜHRER” (“ONE PEOPLE, ONE NATION, ONE LEADER”), unmarked, measuring 32.08 mm in diameter, weighing 17.2 grams (inclusive of ribbon), in extremely fine condition.

4. An Honour Cross of the World War 1914/1918 for Combatants, constructed of bronzed magnetic metal, on loop for suspension from its period original ribbon, consisting of a Cross Pattée with crossed swords piercing the centrepiece, the obverse bearing central wreathed dates “1914-1918”, the reverse maker marked with the logo of an unidentified manufacturer, measuring 37.72 mm (w) x 42.33 mm (h), weighing 15.4 grams (inclusive of ribbon), in extremely fine condition.

5. A 1914 Iron Cross II Class, constructed of iron and silver, on loop for suspension from its period original ribbon pinned with a mis-matched clasp named to an unrelated individual, consisting of a Cross Pattée with a blackened magnetic iron core within a ribbed silver frame, the obverse with a central initial “W”, the six o’clock arm with a reinstitution date of “1914”, the twelve o’clock arm with a royal crown, the reverse with three central oak leaves, the six o’clock arm with an initial institutional date of “1813”, the twelve o’clock arm with initials “FW” topped by a royal crown, the suspension loop maker marked “KO” for a widely-documented but unidentified manufacturer, measuring 42.69 mm (w) x 48.04 mm (h), weighing 20.5 grams (inclusive of ribbon and clasp), in better than very fine condition.
