Germany, Wehrmacht. A Medal Bar for an Eastern Volunteer Non-Combatant

(Ordensschnalle für Ost-Freiwillige). A medal bar featuring an unusual combination of awards to an Eastern volunteer in Wehrmacht service, including:

1. A War Merit Cross II Class, constructed of bronze, on loop for suspension with its period original ribbon, consisting of a Maltese Cross with pebbled arms, the obverse with a central wreathed mobile swastika, the reverse with a central wreathed date of “1939”, without visible marks, measuring 48.90 mm (w) x 49.50 mm (h), in extremely fine condition.

2. An Eastern Peoples Merit Decoration, II Class in Silver, constructed of silvered zink, on loop for suspension with its period original ribbon, the obverse consisting of an eight-pointed starburst, bearing a central raised rosette situated within a circular laurel wreath, without visible marks, measuring 40.28 mm (w) x 45.27 mm (h), demonstrating minor loss of silver finish, in near extremely fine condition.

Both suspended from a 75 mm-long bar with a magnetic metal core, horizontal pinback, and field-grey wool liner, demonstrating minor soiling to the ribbons, in near extremely fine condition.
