(Ordenschnalle mit Bandschnalle). A medal bar for a distinguished Eastern Front combatant featuring three awards, including:
1. A 1939 Iron Cross II Class, constructed of iron and silver, on loop for suspension with its period original ribbon, consisting of a Cross Pattée with a blackened magnetic iron core within a ribbed silver frame, the obverse with a central mobile swastika, the six o’clock arm with a reinstitution date of “1939”, the reverse six o’clock arm with an initial institution date of “1813”, without visible marks, measuring 44.21 mm (w) x 47.50 mm (h), demonstrating some blemishing to the finish of the core but retaining virtually all of the frame’s original frosting, in extremely fine condition.
2. An Eastern Front Medal, constructed of silvered and patinated zink, on loop for suspension with its period original ribbon, the obverse bearing a raised Heer-style German national eagle clutching a swastika, the reverse bearing an inscription of “WINTERSCHLACHT IM OSTEN 1941/42” (“WINTER BATTLE IN THE EAST 1941/42”), above a crossed sword and laurel branch, topped by a Stahlhelm and stick grenade, without visible marks, measuring 36.02 mm (w) x 44.27 mm (h), without visible marks, demonstrating near-total loss of silver finish, in better than very fine condition.
3. A Finnish Order of the Cross of Liberty, Military Division, IV Class, constructed of iron, on loop for suspension with its period original ribbon pinned with a combatant’s clasp, consisting of a Cross Pattée, the obverse overlaid by a plated swastika and bearing a central raised rose, the reverse with two visible rivets securing the swastika in position, bearing a central etched date of “1941”, unmarked, measuring 39.18 mm (w) x 43.07 mm (h), in extremely fine condition.
All suspended from a 100 mm-long bar with a brass core, horizontal pinback, and grey wool reverse liner, retaining a manufacturer’s label bearing an embroidered mark of “GEBR. GODET & CO., ORDENSJUWELIERE, BERLIN, CHARLOTTENSTR. 55”, in extremely fine condition.
Also accompanied by a matching ribbon bar, affixed to a 60 mm-long magnetic metal core with a horizontal pinback, unmarked, demonstrating minor material fatigue, in extremely fine condition.
