(Ordensspange für Kämpfer der Ostfront). A medal bar for a decorated Eastern Front combatant, including:
1. A War Merit Cross II Class with Swords, constructed of bronze,on loop for suspension with its period original ribbon, consisting of a Maltese Cross with pebbled arms and with crossed swords piercing the centrepiece, the obverse bearing a central wreathed mobile swastika, the reverse bearing a central wreathed date of “1939”, without visible marks, measuring 48.89 mm (w) x 48.62 mm (h), in extremely fine condition.
2. An Eastern Front Medal, constructed of silvered and toned zink, on loop for suspension with its period original ribbon, the obverse bearing a raised Heer-style German national eagle clutching a swastika, the reverse bearing an inscription of “WINTERSCHLACHT IM OSTEN 1941/42” (“WINTER BATTLE IN THE EAST 1941/42”), above a crossed sword and laurel branch, topped by a Stahlhelm and stick grenade, without visible marks, measuring 36.00 mm (w) x 45.10 mm (h), demonstrating loss of finish throughout, in very fine condition.
3. A Sudetenland Medal, constructed of bronze, on loop for suspension with its period original ribbon, the obverse bearing two raised figures, one of which is clutching a flag and the other a length of broken chain, above a German national eagle clutching a wreathed mobile swastika, the reverse bearing a central date of “1. OKTOBER 1938”, circumscribed by an inscription of “EIN VOLK, EIN REICH, EIN FÜHRER” (“ONE PEOPLE, ONE NATION, ONE LEADER”), unmarked, measuring 32.03 mm in diameter, in extremely fine condition.
4. A Finnish Order of the Cross of Liberty, Military Division, IV Class cross, constructed of magnetic iron, on loop for suspension with its period original ribbon retaining a combatant’s device, consisting of a Cross Pattée, the obverse bearing a silvered swastika and central rosette, the reverse bearing a date of “1941”, unmarked, measuring 38.61 mm (w) x 42.20 mm (h), demonstrating some surface oxidation, in very fine condition.
All suspended from a 125 mm-long bar with a zink core, horizontal pinback, and dark grey wool reverse liner, in near extremely fine condition.
