(Fotos). A mixed lot of wartime photos depicting tropical personnel in the Mediterranean and African theatres, including:
1 A studio portrait of a Kriegsmarine Officer wearing a visored field cap, the lower half overlaid by a handwritten signature featuring a surname which appears to read “FEUERHELM” with a date of “1943”, the lower right corner bearing a raised Genova studio mark, the reverse in unused postcard format and bearing a Tensi paper mark, measuring 8.5 cm (w) x 13.5 cm (h), a superb image of an Officer stationed in Italy during the Allied advance in extremely fine condition.
2. A studio portrait of a Kriegsmarine Enlisted soldier (likely serving in Coastal Artillery), wearing a visored field cap with a metal eagle insignia, the reverse in postcard format and bearing a brief handwritten inscription of of “SOFIA IM SEPTEMBER 42 VON EUREN KARL” (“SOFIA IN SEPTEMBER 1942. FROM YOUR KARL”), also stamped with a Sofia studio mark in Bulgarian Cyrillic, measuring 8.5 cm (w) x 14 cm (h), in extremely fine condition.
3. A field portrait of a Heer Enlisted soldier wearing a pith helmet, the reverse bearing a handwritten inscription of “(JULI) EISENACH - 1941” and a Feldpost number of “22603” for 2. Batterie, Heeres-Küsten-Artillerie-Abteilung 529, measuring 8.5 cm (w) x 13.5 cm (h), a reference-quality image in extremely fine condition.
4. A photo showing a group of Afrikakorps soldiers receiving rations from a truck in the field, with M43 field cap demonstrating the characteristic bleaching of sun exposure in the African theatre, unmarked and printed on Agfa-Lupex paper, measuring 9.5 cm (w) x 6.5 cm (h), in extremely fine condition.
