Germany, Wehrmacht. A Combat Knife

(Wehrmacht Kampfmesser). A well-preserved Wehrmacht combat knife, measuring 27 cm in total length when inserted into the scabbard. It features a 15 cm-long, nickel-plated, magnetic steel blade which retains period-original sharpening to both the tip and lower edge. Unmarked, the blade emanates from a guard and tang, the latter featuring a two-piece wooden handle grip fixed in place with three rivets. Accompanying the knife is its original scabbard, constructed of a black painted magnetic metal shaft. A spring-loaded clip riveted to the throat allows the knife to be attached to a uniform for ease of access by the user in combat conditions. A functional catch within the throat firmly holds the knife in place during storage. Demonstrating only minor running marks to the blade, it remains in an extremely fine condition.
