Germany, Wehrmacht. A Close Combat Clasp, Silver Grade, by Friedrich Linden of Lüdenscheid - 3rd Pattern with Crimped Hardware and Fluted Pin

(Nahkampfspange in Silber). Instituted November 25th, 1942 (Mid to Late War Issue). A vaulted example, constructed of silvered zink, the obverse consisting of a central square oak leaf wreath, topped by a Wehrmacht eagle clutching a mobile swastika, situated above a crossed bayonet and stick grenade situated over a hollow void, flanked on each side by four oak leaves and sun rays interspersed with two acorns, the reverse with a magnetic square block in the center of the award, with a crimped barrel hinge, horizontal fluted pin, and crimped round wire catch, marked “Fec. W. E. Peekhaus, Berlin” (Designer) and maker marked “FLL” for manufacture by Friedrich Linden of Lüdenscheid, measuring 96.5 mm (w) x 25.9 mm (l), weighing 31.37 grams, with nearly all of its original silver finish worn off due to age and wear, in overall better than very fine condition.
