Germany, Wehrmacht. A Black Grade Wound Badge, with Package, by Friedrich Orth

(Verwundetenabzeichen in Schwarz). Constructed of blackened magnetic metal, the obverse consisting of an oval laurel leaf wreath, with a central raised Stahlhelm overlaid by a mobile swastika, on top of crossed swords on a pebbled field, the reverse with a crimped hinge and vertical pinback meeting a round wire catch, the pinback maker marked with an illegible LDO code, measuring 36.91 mm (w) x 44.38 mm (h), weighing 12.5 grams, accompanied by its original package of issue, constructed of light brown paper stock, the exterior maker marked with LDO code “L/14” for Friedrich Orth, Vienna, measuring 58 mm (w) x 105 mm (h), demonstrating minor surface oxidation to the badge, in better than very fine condition.
