A well-preserved and complete Wehrmacht gas mask, constructed of a field-grey rubberized canvas mask with intact tinted plastic eyepieces situated within metal frames, retaining a magnetic metal filter situated on a threaded connection, stamped with a manufacture date of “1940”, the mask retaining elasticized straps adjusted with aluminum buckles, accompanied by its original storage case, constructed of an olive-drab painted magnetic metal shall with a ribbed exterior, the lid opening with a loop and fastening closed with a canvas strap with retains an eyelet to lock onto a stud emanating from the side of the shaft, with two additional exterior loops retaining a shortened canvas carrying strap, the interior of the lid retaining a paper label bearing a typewritten owner’s name of “GREN. (GRENADIER) SELIGER”, measuring 13 cm (w) x 28 cm (h), material fatigue consistent with age and field use is evident throughout the mask, with additional surface oxidation visible to the canister reflecting age and exposure to the elements, a personalized and complete set in very fine condition.
