(Feldbluse). A reed green, denim construction field blouse, with a Herringbone Twill weave, presenting single-breasted with two pleated patch breast pockets, with two hip pockets, displaying a total of nine field-grey metal buttons, five arranged down the front of the blouse, meeting an equal number of reinforced buttonholes, and one to each pocket, hand-stitched to the tunic through the second buttonhole is a 1939 Iron Cross, II Class ribbon, in addition to an Eastern Campaign Medal ribbon, the collar is constructed of forest-green wool, at the neck is a single metal hook and clasp, the fold down collar presents collar tabs, each constructed of a black wool base, the right-hand side presents a machine-embroidered, horizontally positioned skull, superimposed over crossed bones, in silver bullion wire, the left-hand side presents two silvered rank pips with a single rank tresse, the entire collar is bordered in silver aluminum wire tresse, each shoulder presents slip-on shoulder straps constructed of black wool with a field-grey wool reverse, trimmed with golden yellow rayon piping (denoting cavalry/reconnaissance), bordered by machine-embroidered dark grey tresses, bearing silvered bronze rank pips (denoting the rank of SS-Hauptscharführer), each measuring approximately 46 mm (w) x 106 mm (h), the left upper arm bears a EM/NCO sleeve eagle, constructed of machine-woven silver-grey rayon threads on a black rayong base, measuring approximately 82 mm (w) x 39 mm (h), the left lower arm presents a BeVo cuff title stating Theodor Eicke, the reverse features a 16 cm deep slip in the centre of the field blouse, the interior is unlined, the field blouse measures approximately 38 cm across the shoulders, 59 cm length in the sleeves, and a total of 71.5 cm in total length, presenting mild soiling, and in overall very fine condition.
Footnote: In March 1943, SS-Totenkopf-Infanterie-Regiment 3 (redesignated SS-Panzergrenadierregiment 6) was granted the name and cuff title Theodor Eicke in commemoration of the regiment’s former commander, who was killed in action on the Eastern Front the previous month as commanding general of the Totenkopf Division.
