War Merit Cross, II Class with Swords (in bronzed tombac, measuring 46.8 mm (w) x 46.8 mm (h), original ribbon); and Romania, Kingdom: Order of the Star of Romania, IV Class Officer, Military Division, Type II (1932-1947) (in bronze gilt with red, green and blue enamels, cypher of Carol I on the obverse centrepiece, dated "1877" on the reverse centrepiece, measuring 41 mm (w) x 62 mm (h) inclusive of its crown and laterally-pierced ball suspension, chipping evident in the blue enamels on the arms at 6 and 12 o'clock on the reverse, without ribbon); and Crusade Against Communism Medal (in bronze, measuring 31.7 mm in diameter, replacement ribbon). Un-mounted, near extremely fine.
Accompanied by three documents: Permission to Accept the Officer’s Cross of the Order of the Star of Romania Certificate (stating that Arbeitsführer (Major equivalent) Willi Schlagmann may accept the Officer’s Cross, 4th Class of the Order of the Star of Romania, dated January 28, 1943 and carries a facsimile of A.H. and a signature in blue ink by the Chief of the Presidential Chancellery of the Führer and the Chancellor, Otto Meissner (1880–1953), measuring 210 mm (w) x 296 mm (h)); Romanian Crusade Against Communism Medal Certificate (text in Romanian, stating that Arbeitsführer Schlagmann was on an RAD mission in Romania and had been awarded the decoration without clasp, dated at Bucharest, November 11, 1942, carrying a facsimile of Defence Minister General Constantin Pantazi, and a signature by a Colonel and Staff Director, the name illegible, measuring 197 mm (w) x 338 mm (h), tattered edges, lightly soiled); and Official German Translation of the Order of the Star of Romania Certificate (stating that Schlagmann received the award on July 14, 1942, carrying the signatures of a female translator as well as that of an Oberfeldmeister and Adjutant, both names illegible, measuring 210 mm (w) x 291 mm (h)).
Also included is a Large Period Photo of Schlagmann in his RAD Uniform (black and white, matte finish, illustrating Schlagmann wearing Iron Cross 2nd Class ribbon, along with a DRL Sports Badge, stating on the reverse "The men of the 1st Training Battalion - Educational Battalion Romania 2" and dated July 8, 1942, measuring 173 mm (w) x 232 mm (h), slight undulation).
