A mixed lot of prisoner of war (POW) paper items, including:
1. A 1946 edition of “Oriental Odyssey”, constructed of a card stock binding with 55 paginated interior pages full of poems, songs, and verses chronicling the experiences of a Winnipeg Grenadier in Japanese captivity during the Second World War, self-published by the author, accompanied by a Hong Kong patch and photo of the owner or author, measuring 15 cm (w) x 23.5 cm (h), demonstrating some material fatigue and missing several pages, in very fine condition.
2. A May 1942 edition of “The Camp”, produced by German authorities for Allied POWs in custody, in near extremely fine condition.
3. A 1946 edition of “Wirebound World: Stalag Luft III”, constructed of a spiral-bound card stock binding with 75 paginated interior pages featuring black-and-white photographs documenting inmate life in the infamous camp known for being the site of the “Great Escape” of 1944, all supplemented by detail captions, compiled by Squadron Leader H.P. Clark and printed by Alfred H. Cooper & Sons Ltd., London, measuring 23 cm (w) x 29 cm (h), in near extremely fine condition.
4. A 1946 copy of “Erinnerung an Kanada” (“Memories of Canada”), constructed of a paper stock binding with non-paginated interior pages featuring typewritten text and illustrations documenting German POW life in Lethbridge, Alberta, measuring 18.5 cm (w) x 21 cm (h), fatigue and damp staining consistent with age and storage conditions, in very fine condition.
5. A reprinted copy of “Espanola POW Camp 21: 1940-1943”, constructed of a paper stock binding with 19 paginated interior pages detailing German inmate life in the camp, supplemented by black-and-white photos, illustrations, and maps, measuring 21 cm (w) x 27.5 cm (h), in extremely fine condition.
6. A Dulag Luft (Allied airmen POW transit camp) identification card for 2nd Lieutenant Andrew J. Serfozo, a native of Duquesne who served with 489th Bombardment Group, 2nd Air Division, 8th Air Force, retaining black-and-white mudshots of Serfozo in German custody, laminated and measuring 18.5 cm (w) x 27 cm (h), in extremely fine condition.
7. A Canadian-issue wanted poster for Eckhart J. Brosig, a Luftwaffe Enlisted ranks POW who escaped from an Ontario internment camp on 8 August 1943, measuring 21.5 cm (w) x 34 cm (h), demonstrating minor discolouration and material fatigue, in very fine condition.
8. A lot of seven postcards printed by the YMCA War Prisoners’ Aid campaign, each featuring humorous colour illustrations of Luftwaffe personnel in a POW camp, all unmarked and measuring 14.5 cm (w) x 9 cm (h), in overall extremely fine condition.
