(Verdienstorden vom Deutschen Adler, Bruststern II. Klasse mit Schwertern). Instituted 1 May 1937. (1943-1945 issue). Constructed of gilded silver with enamels, the obverse consisting of a six-pointed radiant star, bearing a central white enameled Maltese Cross, with its arms joined through the quadrants by NSDAP-stye German national eagles clutching wreathed mobile swastikas on white enameled discs, the reverse with two blasted rivets securing the obverse applique in position, with a wide barrel hinge and tapering vertical pinback meeting a rounded catch, the pinback maker marked with a silver content number of “900”, otherwise unmarked but demonstrating the characteristics of manufacture by Gebrüder Godet, Berlin, measuring 65.61 mm (w) x 75.27 mm (h), weighing 44.2 grams, demonstrating minor flecking to the enamels, in extremely fine condition.
