Germany, Third Reich. A Sudetenland Medal, with Case, by the Vienna Mint

(Medaille zur Erinnerung an den 1. Oktober 1938 mit Etui). Constructed of bronze, on loop for suspension from its period original ribbon with pinback, the obverse bearing two raised figures, one of which is clutching a flag and the other a length of broken chain, above a German national eagle clutching a wreathed mobile swastika, the reverse bearing a central date of “1. OKTOBER 1938”, circumscribed by an inscription of “EIN VOLK, EIN REICH, EIN FÜHRER” (“ONE PEOPLE, ONE NATION, ONE LEADER”), unmarked, measuring 32.08 mm in diameter, weighing 15.2 grams, accompanied by its original presentation case, constructed of a rigid card stock frame with a faux red leather exterior liner, the lid bearing a gilt German national eagle clutching a wreathed mobile swastika, the interior with a white rayon lid liner and red felt medal bed, closing with a functional metal spring catch with exterior stud release, the base retaining a maker’s label indicting manufacture by the Vienna Mint, measuring 50 mm (w) x 100 mm (l) x 20 mm (h), in near extremely fine condition.
