Germany, Third Reich. A Rare Set of Diplomatic Service Visor Cap Insignia

(Reichs Auswärtiges Amt Insignien für die Schirmmütze). A rare set of Reich Diplomatic Service visor cap insignia, including:

1. An eagle, constructed of a black wool base with two-tone silver aluminum wire embroidery, the reverse retaining the remnants of an original paper liner, unmarked, measuring 120 mm (w) x 55 mm (h), demonstrating minor material fatigue, in uniform-removed and near extremely fine condition.

2. A one-piece wreath and cockade, constructed of a black wool base with silver aluminum wire embroidery and with red wool and black threaded accents to the cockade, the reverse retaining mostly-intact paper and buckram liners, unmarked, measuring 130 mm (w) x 55 mm (h), demonstrating minor material fatigue to the right side wire (when viewed from the obverse) which has partially exposed the card stock frame, in uniform-removed and near extremely fine condition.

3. A chinstrap, constructed of rolled silver aluminum wire piping, featuring dual sliding knots and culminating at each end in a loop for button-on attachment, unmarked, measuring 340 mm in length, in extremely fine condition.

4. Two side buttons, each constructed of silvered brass and bearing a raised diplomatic-style German national eagles clutching wreathed mobile swastikas flanked by oak leaves, the reverse of each retaining a lug and maker marked “ASSMANN & SÖHNE, LÜDENSCHEID”, along with the company’s logo, measuring 20 mm in diameter, demonstrating minor loss of finish, a matching pair in extremely fine condition.
