(Verdienstorden vom Deutschen Adler, Kreuz II. Klasse). Instituted 1 May 1937. (1937-1939 issue). Constructed of gilded silver with enamels, consisting of a Maltese Cross with white enameled arms, joined through the quadrants by NSDAP-style German national eagles clutching wreathed mobile swastikas on white enameled discs, the twelve o’clock arm topped by an integral loop and suspension ring retaining a period original shortened length of neck ribbon, the six o’clock arm bearing a silver content number of “900”, otherwise unmarked but demonstrating the characteristics of a Type I decoration produced by Deschler & Sohn, Munich, measuring 51.35 mm (w) x 51.11 mm (h), weighing 42.2 grams (inclusive of ribbon), demonstrating minor flecking to the enamels, a scarce early example demonstrating Deschler’s noted quality in extremely fine condition.
